Personal planet 1

Polaroid composite of the students, each holding their "personal planet." In the first image, the planet is literally a "globe" with the objects from the person's world hidden inside. The two hemispheres can be rotated, creating new continents like "americafrica" and "europasia".

Personal Planet. Freshman Foundation. VCU

In this early scuptural exercise, students are asked to make something that reflects who they are personally and artistically. They can combine objects, assemble elements from their immediate environment or create something anew with drawing and sculpture. The resulting discussion and comparisons give the teacher and the students an interesting starting point for a productive work environment. Based on an idea by Michele Provinciali, Italian designer and teacher.
